Computer w/ stock navi display

i haven't seen anything on hooking up a computer to the stock navi screen? does anyone know if an interface exists? i wanna go from the VGA output, not the composite output on some video cards. i would consider the s-video output if someone could tell me how it's resolution would compare to the VGA or composite connection.

You may want to consider this easy way to get a computer in your car... I am sure someone on here may have already done it, but hasn't seen your post yet.

Take a laptop or a desktop and modify it as needed in to your vehicle. Take the video out from the computer (RCA connector) and go in to either a AV Electronic converter box or a PAC Video unit. The PAC units will be better for your kind of install... It's also cheaper. It will give you a easy method of switching from your stock navi display, to your video input.

For more info: www.pac-audio.com or www.avelectronic.com

Or you can get a modded xBox like me

S-Video is made for TV and would suck just as much *** as RCA connector would. Although its probably possible I don't think anyone makes a VGA converter for the stock NAV unit.

I can't confirm or deny this with certainty since I never tried it, but theoretically it should work in some form since VGA does use the same data lines as RGB. Your probably going to have resolution issues though... As in the display may not work well with most of the resolutions your video card will put out and since you can't adjust the display itself, you may be stuck with anything from a completely unreadable display to one with some black bars on the sides or top. IMHO VGA is definitly worth the effort over RCA though.

I would ask around on mp3car.com, someone there has probably at least attempted this.

No, it wont work well. VGA runs at 31kHz where as our screen is running at ~15kHz. Some guys at the Infiniti FX forum have been playing with this for months. (FYI, the systems are identical.)

The easiest and highest quality way to get a PC on your NAV system right now is the box that generator sells and mod an xbox. It works flawlessly and the quality is simply stunning.
