Installed a Basslink...

Installed a Basslink...
I finally got around to installing a Basslink in my ride. The install was fairly easy. The only hard part was running the 8 gauge from the batt, but it wasn't too bad. I got it in with no modifications. It was a tight fit though, and I imagine that 4 gauge would be quite a bit more work. I had a wiring chart for the Bose amp, so splicing into the cable harnesses was pretty easy too. The Basslink fits well in the left rear corner of the trunk, again with no modifications. I also used a high/lo converter for the signal input to the amp. You can use the speaker level inputs with the Basslink, but I figured I may as well convert them.
I got roughly the sound quality that I was expecting from the unit. It's range is very good, though the quality of the bass was somewhat inaccurate. It tends to get muddy at moderate volumes, but not so much so that it is annoying. Take that last statement with a grain of salt though. My last system featured a 12w6 v2, so I may be a little spoiled. I am considering going to a traditional setup so that I can get a 10w6 v2, but it's going to cost me at least 3X as much as the $300 Basslink.
Pros-
Lightweight.
Good Value.
Easy install.
Adds a lot of bottom end that the coupe's stock system is missing.
Remote gain control is kind of a nice touch.
Acceptable spl.
Cons-
Bass is not accurate / muddy.
Overall I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking to add a simple subwoofer to round out the Gs stock system. Bass connoisseurs will not be satisfied however, but then again, they really wouldn't expect to be.

Re: Installed a Basslink...
I have the Basslink my my coupe as well. It fits perfectly in the left corner with some pushing. The unit is built for people who want to supplement music with more bass rather than people who want to be able to shake the street. It works very well for me. The remote volume control is an excellent freebie. I got mine installed for $280, well worth the money.

Re: Installed a Basslink...
I've had mine for aboout a year...Fills in the bass region very well.
I have it pushed more to the left than this pic shows, but facing up. It sounded clearer (less muddy) to me this way.

Re: Installed a Basslink...
It sounds pretty good, it's not ground pounding bass, but it is a day and night difference between the stock system and the stock system with the Basslink. I suppose that 2 would naturally sound better than one.
I installed my remote in the storage compartment under the center armrest. I didn't mount it permanently yet, just used double sided tape. I wasn't sure if I'd like it there, but it works pretty well. It's not like I have to get at it all that often.
