Can you replace the non-navi screen with a navi screen?
I have a non-navi 07 G35 and I was thinking about purchasing just the navi touchscreen display from this guy out of another 07 G35 and replace it with my screen. Even though I don't have navigation in my car, will the touchscreen still work, like with the radio and the cd? The reason why I'm doing this is because I'm thinking about purchasing the Garmvin GV-50 which has touchscreen interface and if I replace my non-touchscreen display with a touchscreen display, will it still work in my car? Any advice from you guys would be awesome!!
I assume you're talking about a 2007 Sedan and something like the garmin GVN53, as I can't find any garmin GV-50 product anywhere.
No touchscreen support there.
My advice?
If you want touchscreen GPS in the factory location, here's the easy way to do it:
Suction Cup.
5 second install and nearly no wiring required.
Even if you did go to the trouble to install the screen from another car, the chances of a generic product working with the touchscreen are somewhere between "no" and "hell no".
But if you've got about $450 to spend on a GVN-53, you can connect it through the video connector in the console, and bypass the video while moving lock to display it through the standard screen.
