Where is the unified meter control unit? AKA "combination meter" it has two white pins M19 and M20? Also where do you guys usually tap for ignition accessory and ignition start?

Ok that makes sense. ill double check the plug tomorrow. Well im glad to say it works! it powered up. The only thing that doesnt work right now that i know of is illumination and the arrow moving foward and backward on the screen.
Here are the things i havent wired yet:
if you know where any of these things are or where i need to look please let me know.

anything going to the combination meter M19 & M20 (which we believe is the speedo)

i also need to find a wire for the ignition on/start

orange wire that i believe goes to a reverse signal (pin 27 off the navi control unit)

Well about a weekends worth of work litterally from 10am-sundown both days led to this.

There's a vehicle speed sensor output - green/white - on one of the radio harnesses.
Ignition on/start can be powered from the cigarette lighter socket's power inputs.

At least you have firsthand knowledge as to why it's pretty much never done, and there's a solid write-up to inspire or deter others now.

My 04 premium does not have the power up/down.

There is one other member here from SoCal who retrofitted his G couple years ago.
He did have a writeup at that time.

If jfdeltoro had the wiring harness from an 05, it probably would have gone much smoother.

K, i wired the white green speed pulse to the speed pulse on the dash and its still not giving me any foward movement on my screen? it just changes direction if that makes sense? (arrow stays in one place but changes direction)

If you have a multi meter see if current increases as you drive to make sure you are getting a signal. I think there is also a speed pulse on the back of the radio for the ssv setting. Look through the FSM manual to see if there is a status screen. On my 06 I have a status screen I can get to that shows all my input statuses. I.e. Reverse, speed, lights, etc.

EDIT: Page AV-65 in the 05 FSM.

Im gonna double check the connection later after work. I used a general use 20guage wire tap... I think i clearly remember when i wired my oem navigation on my VW i needed to use telephone wire taps for some odd reason?

Follow the steps on page AV-65 onwards and you will be able to see the signal as soon as you start driving in the status screen if it is hooked up correctly.

I got it working, i wasnt getting the best signal off the speed wire on the speedo. I went off the wire for the ssv on the radio and it works! everything works! I think i need an update tho because there is no fuel menu. I took a video i just have to upload it.

Thanks man, Well its official. YOU CAN ADD OEM navi to your car as long as you have a matching harness to a matching navi. Just as long as you follow the wiring diagram in the FSM your ALL GOOD. Thank you for everything and all your help. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask.
