Adding OEM Navi to a non-navi equiped G
Hey guys im looking for some help and possibly i can help some of you guys by taking photos. I found a used oem navi unit for sale that im going to pick up this weekend. Its from a 2005 g35 coupe, and i own a 2005 g35 coupe didnt come with navi but it did come with the bose system. I will document the install, i did some research and i saw that people were installing 05's into 06's and 06's into 05's and they needed to incorporate some harness work.
My questions are:
since im installing an 05 unit into an 05 car, it should theoretically be plug and play right?
the unit i am getting comes with the dvd unit for the dash and the dvd brain in the dash. Also comes with the antenna and the navi dvd. Im getting the entire center console with the bose system... my car already has the bose system so im thinking that should just be plug and play as well.
Can anyone give me anymore info on parts i may need? im going to be picking up the unit on sunday so ill start taking pictures then.

BWhahahahahahhahahahaa good luck with that!
It's plug and play alright, but the number of plugs and the hours and hours of playing with your entire dash removed isn't exactly something you don't want to do. As for parts you'll need - as long as it's complete (stereo, nav unit - the DVD drive, the GPS antenna and the epic complete wiring harness), the only parts you'll need are whatever you break trying to get this thing installed.
I hope you haven't bought it yet. And thanks again to R1Ricer for posting a mostly complete photo of the "complete" navi system.

That's somebody else's install, you can see more in the DD pics thread, or there's a short list of different-ish ones in my DD gallery, which is linked from my DD install shopping list/resources/FAQ post here:

There's a lot of DD units that basically look like that, but I recommend the Pioneer AVIC-X920BT or AVIC-Z110BT right now. great units for the price.
Budget-minded wise, the Pioneer 4200 or Kenwood 6160 are both good choices.

yeah im in the market as well and i was debating between the Pioneer X920BT and the Kenwood DNX6160. The pioneer is going really cheap on amazon for like 800$ and the Kenwood on ebay is real cheap but getting for 780$ from a local hook up. I really like the pioneers new feature of pandora and the ipod interface but i heard the pioneer still doesnt have the pandora and musicsphere working yet? most likely going to buy one of these two

I'd definitely go X920BT over the DNX6160.
Musicsphere should be live now:

I have factory nav and would take the pioneer any day. The only benefit to factory nav is fuel economy, screen viewing angle and oil change notice (but if your like me you KNOW when the oil change is due).
When I was having my electrical ghost a few weeks ago I was at the point of lifting the dash out. Not hard, but a huge waste if you ask me. Go aftermarket JDM DD.

Hey guys, im having some trouble sourcing a used wiring harness from a g35. Is it true infiniti and nissan will not sell pigtails and spare connectors? I use to own a vw gti and i integrated the oem navigation from germany. All it took was part numbers and vw ordered me all of the repair wires and male connectors. Im curious how these other guys got theirs wired "making their own harness'" because everytime i call a dealership they are straight up *********. Not because they cant help me, but they just have attitude like its that time of the month for them.

Not sure how to go about powering it without the stock wiring harness though. Probably best bet for putting a screen in that location is to just install a small LCD screen in that location.
