Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD Distorted radio

I installed my double din a few weeks ago and for some reason my radio stations are distorted and extremely staticky. I notice that the radio stations is fine when I turn it on, and after a while usually driving, i start to hear the distortion, any ideas what could be wrong?

It's not unheard of for the antenna amplifier to go bad in our cars, so that a possibility, the other one is that the power wire for it wasn't connected as good as it could have been.

Ok so I went in the back of the radio today, and this is what I found...

It is the antenna adapter, and I'm guessing that might be the reason my radio has been distorted lately, I'm not an expert on this, but is that suppose to be hanging out like that? I basically took off the center console, looked it, and saw it hanging there? Should it be connected with something else?

That's the back of your radio, the red bit from the nissan diversity antenna adapter goes into the big round hole.

Some nissans that use the same adapter have a second antenna, ours have an amplifier so it only uses the one, and you end up with one hanging around doing nothing.

See if you can get to the other half of the adapter to see if everything's still connected. If everything is securely connected, your antenna amplifier is likely on the fritz, or there's a problem with the radio itself.

I got the car checked up today for the radio, the installers said everything should be working fine, the wires are good, ground wires etc, but I am still getting distortion in the radio and the guy said that a lot of vehicles do lose clear local radio channels when jumping to an aftermarket radio, he recommended me to get a antenna amplifier. I was just wondering if any of you guys who did a double din conversion ever had problems with your radio, did you buy anything for the radio to clear up or am I just having bad luck lol

Might be time to have the stock antenna amplifier then. If the stock one's broken, adding another one won't do much good until you remove the old one.

Oh, and maybe they checked, but since they said adding an antenna amp might help, they may not have known there IS an antenna amp already installed, and perhaps they just didn't hook up the power wire for it when they put the harness together.
