Factory Bose DEAD, considering DoubleDin setup

Hi All,

I know there are countless threads about converting to Double Din setup but I have some questions that I would like some opinions on from members that were probably in the same boat that I am in now. I have a 03 Sedan with a Bose Head Unit and factory navigation. The factory radio is out and currently causing my AC/HEATER controls to not function, I can't even turn it off or on. I've considered bringing in the car for dealer service but they advised me that there is no warranty or guarantee that the problem will still not come back later down the line, not to mention it is SUPER COSTLY to get this fixed from the dealership.

This car is driven by my wife, and she could care less about audio enhancements. Just as long as the radio and ac system works the way they ought to.

My questions is this:
-Would it be easier and cheaper to have this issue serviced by Infiniti or should I just invest in the double din upgrade? Keep in mind I just want everything to work properly as it did, and don't really care about modifying my sound system.

-How much does a double din conversion cost on an average? (considering that I wanna keep everything functional ie: GPS, Dual Climate Control, etc.)

-Which double din units would most recommend?

Thanks guys!

Definitely don't pay for another stock unit.

Of course it would be easier to just pay somebody to do it, but not necessarily cheaper. You should invest in a DDin.

To keep the factory nav, you'll need to get the JDM kit. So price-wise, JDM kit & trim ring + PAC ROEM-NIS2 + steering wheel adapter, you're looking at about $450. Since you're looking for a fairly basic replacement, I'd check out the ~$350
Pioneer 3200BT Pioneer 3200BT
(you can get it w/o bluetooth for $30 less as the 3200DVD).
You'll get good iPod functions, auxuillary inputs, hands-free bluetooth (great with all the new no cellphones while driving laws) and can add on whatever you want in the future - HD radio, sat radio...

Grand total of about $800 + labor if you don't DIY.
And there are cheaper DDin units, but they're about $100 less and the quality and feature drop for them is enormous.

Wrathernaut,

Thanks for the helpful reply, you do know your audio stuff!!! Just curious as to where I could purchase everything except the DoubleDin for that price?

Thanks!
