Stock Bose Loudness Question
I have the stock Bose and headunit along with an alpine 850w amp and 2 10" type r subs.
How loud does the Bose headunit go? My bass is on -5 and I never turn my volume up past 20-21. I have an 04 coupe.
I know my subs will play much louder but I dont want to damage my stock Bose speakers. What can you run them up to on the volume meter if my bass is always set to -5.
Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about the Bose amp hurting anything but your ears, not through loudness, but through it's crappy eq settings. As you turn up the volume, the Bose amp reduces the power to the bass itself since it doesn't have enough power in it to push full range, so it reduces bass and ups the mids and highs.

what is all this talk about bass and bose???
those words must never be combined
what you are listening to is distorted muddy bottoming out bass.
I remember even at 0 the bass was muddy towards volume level 15
take that bose set up out and throw it on the ground.
that has the to be the worst part about this car.
The rattle is the cone slapping the motor/back plate of the driver it self, basically bottoming out for trying to produce frequencies it cannot ....I cant believe you guys listen to that.

nevets - it all depends on your source.
If you're listening to music that's been cranked in the loudness for you (
) then yeah, 31 is probably too high for normal listening.
However, if the music you listen to hasn't been bastardized by the loudness wars, you can turn it up and hear the full dynamic range of the music, where quiet bits are quiet and drums thump, and there's a range in between.
