Cheap setup?

Now I hope I don't get ripped for driving this beautiful car but wanting a cheap audio setup. I just want a tiny bit more than what the stock system offers.

I'm not a DIY guy as far as audio components in the car go, and I don't know much about speakers. Could anyone recommend a relatively cheap setup for me? When I say cheap, I'd say around $300. I'm not even sure where I'd get this done. I have tuner friends, but none are audiophiles.

I'd really like a little more highs & bass. I don't want the bass to drown out everything else unless I crank up the base in the audio settings. If anyone can suggest anything, I'd appreciate it. Would this be a difficult task? If anyone is in the New Jersey area, where would you suggest going for an install of such a system?

Thanks fellas.

For $300 get the Basslink. It's a great value for the money. It really makes a big difference with the stock system.

Re: Cheap setup?

basslink is basically an amp/sub/enclosure built into one. Small, nice sound. Good for people that don't need really loud bass. Wasn't enough for me personally, but I could definately see it being more than enough for most people.

I think circuit city sells it... listen to it before purchasing.

Yeah, Basslink is a good call. I got mine for under $300 installed. As far as the high, I think you can change out the resistor on the stock tweeter to get more sound out of it. There is a DIY on the site somewhere.

Re: Cheap setup?

If cheap is what you want and warranty isnt, then I'd get your stuff on EBAY and hook it up with a sub/amp combo. I think that'll be the sound you want as far as bass, and the bass will fill in some of the other sounds.

Re: Cheap setup?

Quick question on the basslink... where did you mount yours when you had it in the car?
