HELP! plz. car wont Start after nav install.

Hello,
Have been reading this site religiously for the last few months as i have been doing some mods to my car. earlier this week i added a 5/16 copper iso spacer, z-tube and pop charger.
Yesterday, i installed a Z110bt, boyo back camera, and all the equip to go with it. very pleased with everything! (and THX to all on this site who provided the info for isntalling these things) Onto the problem..

EVERYTHING in the car works fine, EXCEPT (1) i do not have any reverse lights, (2) In my dash it will not display what gear i am in, and finally, (3) the car wont start. there is power going to the engine..when i hit the key there is a reaction, but the engine will not turn over!

Stumped. Took the dash apart and disconnected everything i installed to make sure this was not causing it. No luck. All other lights, seats, ac, etc works fine. The only thing i can come up with is some how maybe i burnt the REV light relay beside the battery?

Thx in advance...!!!!..

Shawn

Could just be a low battery. Put it on a charger overnight and see if it'll start.

Reverse lights and shift indicator not working sounds like the splice didn't go right, and yes, may have burned out the fuse - or - you're grounding out somewhere draining the battery and preventing starting.

But I'd start with the fuses.

Thanks for your input!

And im leaning towards it not being a batter issue..replaced new a few months ago, and there is lots of power to run everything else in the car on ACC.. and when i hit the key not lights dim etc..just wont turn over..no clicking.

I have checked all the small atf (think thats what there called) fuses, look fine, but am not sure how to check the rev relay... but it is the only thing i can find with anything relating to the reverse lights labeled on it....

I guess i should mention it is a 2003 Sedan 5AT...

Any other thoughts anyone....

.. I also have another question.. the install went fine, but i was unable to determine which wire i am supposed to tap into with the "Reverse Gear input" wire coming off of the Z110bt harness. the purple wire i beleive.. I dont know where to connect it on the car...
Thanks again!

Did you splice the reverse gear wire in at all? Sounds like it won't start because it thinks it's in gear seeing as how it displays no specific gear indication. That would be my assumption since the auto's won't start in anything other than Park or Neutral. Verify your splicing if any (or remove the splice and put it back to original config) and see if you get a gear display. Sounds like one issue causing all the others.

thanks!

And i have not connected it at all, to anything. (the reverse gear input wire of the HU harness) the only thing i have spliced is the power and grd from the back up camera, into the rev light wire in the truck. But i have disconnected that and plan to reconnect once the car is running and i find out where to connect the wire off the HU harness.
The camera did work, but once i put the car in reverse, it would stay in camera mode because i did not have that wire fromthe HU harness connected i would assume.. so the HU did not know it was no longer in reverse.

Does anyone know how to test a relay? I am going to try to buy one tmrw and replace it..hoping for the best.

I tapped into my reverse lead wire next to the drivers seat big wiring harness underneath the carpet. It is an orange wire on my 06, but double check before you tap it by putting the car in reverse and using a circuit tester.

I would check all the fuses in the foot well box and both boxes under the hood ( in front and behind battery).

Hurt locker brings up a good point.

Did you forget to reattach a harness down at the shifter?

^^ +1. Didn't think of that. But I think the plug is only for lighting and cig lighter (2 plugs). The main shift box should have it's own plug. I think the trans tells the computer what gear it is in, but I could be wrong.
