Metra 70-7551 + Bose, Yes, it works. No it isn't quiet.

Okay, so I've now installed a Pioneer AVIC Z110BT, which others, including people who do this kind of thing for a living, have repeatedly failed to get working with just the Metra 70-7551 harness.

Some of them have given up and used the 70-7550 harness, which gives proper volume level, but with a very high noise level.

Since I haven't been able to confirm that the first time I did this was a fluke, I've been recommending the PAC ROEM-NIS2 to people with the similar problem as it has solved this problem for others in the past.

So now that I've done two of these, with one being one that others have had problems with, until somebody can show me they've wired this the exact same way and have the problem with the audio being nearly silent, I'm going to say that it works fine.

Edit: Now it is proven that even wired this way it doesn't always work. Use the ROEM-NIS2.

i used the 70-7551 with my Alpine DD and unfortunatly, IMO sounds too low. At 25 (max 35) volume and windows down, i can bearly hear the music over the wind and road noise. I'll prob end up redoing it when i replace the speakers and add a sub in a few months.

You're not experiencing the problem others have, theirs is like full blast, car stopped, you can barely hear it, so it's probably wired correctly.

keep us updated with what you find...if I go double din in my G, the Z110BT will be the HU I use. Can't beat the AVIC Z stuff.

No, you can't.

I've got mine wired up while I get the rest of my install done, it's awesome.

"Play artist The Hanslick Rebellion" - Does it.
"Get directions to nearest Chili's" - Does it.
"Change source to FM" - Does it.
"Call wife cell" - Does it.

I liked the F90BT in my wife's, but the Z110BT just shames it, hardcore. Faster, more voice control... I haven't found anything about it to complain about yet.

the F90BT, Z110BT won't have problems with the 7551 since they are 4V out correct?

I purchased a Kenwood DNX5120 that has only 2.0V preouts (haven't installed yet), I bought the 7551 based on the shopping list you have written up, but I am afraid I will have low volume issues because of the 2V out on the deck.

I had no problem with Pioneer U310BT as well, which is only 2v preouts. It sounded fine.

with the 7551, do you basically tape off the speaker wires as the bose uses the rca's?

I used the 7551 and it was awful. Sound was fine, wasn't crazy quiet, but volume was nothing compared to the Bose before it. I had it on 38 (max 40) just to hear it on "normal" driving levels. After I added an amp tho, 13 is now almost unlistenably loud.

As far as the connection though, do you just tape off the speaker wires that the harness shows and use the rca cables that came with it? was a little confused on that part If you even use the speaker wires that the harness is showing.

There are no speaker wires. They use RCA's as the Gray/white and green/purple.
