should this have power

Im at point of no return..i had the radio on and for some unknown reason it turned off not to come back on..i pulled it back out checked all connections and all seemed good. Tried it again and had no luck, so i took it all apart to check wires and power and i noticed that my 12v red wire is getting anything. So i checked the stock harness and the only wire that had power was going to the Yellow wire...is this normal?? should i just hook my red up to the yellow??

the yellow wire on a stereo is the power wire. usually red means power but on a stereo the red is the ignition wire. so the red wire wont get anything until the ignition is on

what i would do is.

turn car on

test for power at red wire

if no power is found trace red wire

test power at beginning point of red wire

if no power is found at beginning of red wire. replace red wire. if power is found. you have something wrong inbetween the 2 ends of the red wire

you can tie the red and yellow wire toghter and run a switch near the seat to turn the radio off and on, but im pretty sure your settings would be erased everytime you flipped the switch

have you checked the fuse on the radio it self?

hmmmm interesting...i guess assuming causes problems, because i just hooked yellow to yellow, red, blue to blue, black to black, orange to orange...But i fixed my problem because i took the red wire from the head unit and ran it to my own power source.. I still dont have any radio reception besides like 2 stations and thats just barely..

Is there a by-pass mod for the ipod when playing movies? I can put a dvd in and plays just fine but i guess the ipod is different...

And yes i did check all fuses and they were all good....Actually i think the wire going into the harness was light green but came out red, and i checked all wires going into the harness and the only one with power was the yellow wire....

When connecting the Metra harness to the X920BT's harness, you're connecting same color to same color for all but 2-3 of them.

Don't be concerned with the colors that kennymo noted.

If the red wire doesn't have power when plugged into the stock harness, then you need to check your fuses.
