Navigation installation

Quick question. Been serching the forum and havent found a legit answer. I have an 05 coupe with no nav and 6 disc changer. I found the same head unit on cragslist off of an 05 with the nav. I went to infinity and asked one of the service guys there if it was possible to replace my non nav unit with this one. He told me the harness for the non nav and the nav equipped one are different and it wouldn't plug up. Just wanted to confirm with someone who maybe knows better. Can it be done? Thanks

I'm 80% sure that the nav functions are on different harnesses that go straight to the nav screen, or go in the same harness that the VSS wire goes into.

The problem though, is that a nav unit is a Bose unit, and base and Bose output different audio signals, so unless you're an 05 Bose non-nav, it won't work for you.

I do have the bose speakers in my coupe. Is there any way I can find out for sure. Maybe a website with diagrams of the connections? I know someone on here is wondering the same thing.

adding an OEM nav became so tiring and costly most people just went with an aftermarket set up

It can be done. I searched on here a couple years ago and there are definetly at least three people who successfully did it. Some of their links are dead now but it has been done. The most common complaint i saw was mpg's did not work nor did speed but i believe everything else worked fine. Download a service manual and look at the schematic it doesn't look too hard just make sure you get at least a pigtail on the back of the dvd rom. If i remember correctly you have splice in a constant 12v, 12v key on, 2 or three grounds, interupt for navi voice, 3 wires go to the back of the gauge cluster and 2 more wires but it slips me now what they are for. It's definetly doable but how do you feel about ripping out the dash splicing a bunch of wires then putting it back in???

The OP was asking if the headunit could be swapped with nav and non-nav cars, not whether he could put factory nav in.

I'm up to 90% sure you can, provided they were both Bose beforehand.
