Double DIN Conversion with Factory NAV

Double DIN Conversion with Factory NAV
I've read the Double DIN Conversion Guide on Driver, the DIY guide on G-Owners and the Double DIN Answers thread on driver and I haven't found a concrete answer yet (I did find all the necessary hardware and part#'s though - thanks). For the most part people doing the conversion are NAV-less, I did see one person that had done it and PM'd him but I haven't gotten a response yet.
What I'm wondering is will the voice controls for the Navigation guidance still come over the audio system and lower other audio source's volume? The Alpine unit I'm considering does have an AUX input but I'm not sure if you can simply plug the factory NAV audio output in there. It would be great if it's that easy.
If anyone has any experience/tips with the Double DIN conversion with Factory NAV I would definitely appreciate the info. I would love to get the greater capabilities of an aftermarket head unit but I don't want to sacrifice the NAV guidance.

Re: Double DIN Conversion with Factory NAV
Just for future search purposes, I found a good solution on my350z (the NAV units should be identical I believe). Basically you can use the 9V signal from the factory nav unit, wire that to a 6V relay and then use that 6V signal to trip the "Telephone Mute" on the aftermarket headunit. This will mute the music while the NAV is sending an audio signal, that way you can hear it.

Re: Double DIN Conversion with Factory NAV
Thanks for the info TheDude.. I'm thinking I'm going to install an amplified center channel to run the audio for the NAV..
Tonio- Nope, I'll probably have the local Tweeter do the install again. I'm buying an Alpine CDA-9835 this week and I ordered the HDA-5460 last week.. Should be a nice double DIN combo. I'm going to order JL Audio speakers all around and another JL amp. I just wanted to make sure it was feasible to get the NAV working with an aftermarket HU before I started buying stuff.
