Stock Headunit Emergency!

Okay so basically one of my friends jumped my G for me, and he put the negative on the positve and fried my headunit. (battery started smoking) I ran and pulled them off the battery, burned my hands.
Aftermath:
AC is on Auto and wont turn off.
Radio and the whole center console does not power on. No CD no Radio Nothing. Cant turn anything on or off.

2004 G35 coupe
HELP ME PLEASE

Fuses maybe?

Otherwise you'll at the very least need a new circuit board from a 2004 that matches bose or non-bose, whatever you had before.

Do your steering wheel controls still turn it on/off/volume/tuning? If not then you'll need to replace the headunit too. If that's the case, you might as well replace the whole thing with an aftermarket unit.
Check my double din sticky'd post at the top of this forum for everything you need to replace it.

A basic replacement can cost you under $300.
I'd make your friend pay half.

Wow...now that suxs! I would be so pissed.

I agree with Wrathernaut...check the fuse for the radio, thats why they are there for.

If thats fine, you might want to think about replaceing the whole radio instead of just the circuit board. Who knows what damage has been caused.

My friend help me check the fuses under the hood and the one under the steering wheel. The fuses are fine. So what now?

1st of all... Keep YOUR friend away from any of your stuff! You will need a new crcuit board, but you are better off looking for a used OEM stereo in the marketplace.....

Haha, yeah, seriously, give your friend one of those injection-molded foam squeaky hammers and a Bob the Builder Talkin' Drill and tell him to fix your power wheels.

The fuses probably would be fine since nothing over 12volts ever was sent through the system, it was just sent backwards, but it was worth checking.

Probably fried parts of the radio's power supply though. A real electrical repair shop might be able to fix it, but this gives you a valid excuse to upgrade to aftermarket.

I'm researching this now too because I have the same symptoms (AC on full blast, radio screen is blank and no sound, steering wheel controls don't respond either, ect.) but it just happened randomly, first radio just cut out here and there but came back after a few seconds then it all just went to hell with above symptoms. Do we have anyone that knows for sure what this is or what the solutions is or are we all just assuming? Any help is greatly appreciated. At least its summer and the AC isn't completely wasted.

Poor components in every aspect of the radio.

The power supply in the radio can die, the cd changer mechanism goes out and jams, the circuit board for the radio/ac dies, take your pick.

Yes, wether you buy the Metra kit ($150) or the JDM kit ($300) it will fix it.
