aftermarket deck

I want to install a new deck for ma sedan. I want to leave the bose unit the way it is. I'll probably put the deck in the upper glove box. is there a way for me to install the system as far as connecting wires and sounds? is it safe to pig tail the wires behind the bose to keep the head unit running? I just want to still have the looks of stock and have a better quality sound hidden..

Personally, the only thing I think you'll get in terms of sound quality over the stock head unit in an after market one is equalization features, particularly if your not also switching out the stock amp and speakers. In any case you definitly don't want to just splice the new head unit wires into the existing ones going into the stock head unit. You will get alot of interference between the two if you do this, even if only 1 is on at a time. Your best bet would be to install some relays triggered by a switch that would physically switch between the two sets of wires, just make sure you don't combine lines that carry power and the speaker lines in the same relay. You can get more information on relays for audio by going to www.the12volt.com

I'm also manufacturing a converter to put a single DIN unit in the upper glovebox that you may find helpful.

Re: aftermarket deck

I was goin to put an aftermarket deck in the upper glove box that way I don't have to deal with the double din conversion. But if it's goin to affect one or the other if I pigtail them then I might just get an equalizer for the bose headunit. Since I don't have SAT ready, I do have the button though, will I be able to use the PAC audio AUX output? or this might be a problem too? I don't know I kinda give on this and might as well just do the Double Din conversion to make everything simple.
