Double din

I know there are a million threads about double dins, but I can't seem to find one that helps me out.
I'm completely clueless about a double din and I need help on what all I need to get. I was wondering if someone could recommend me some combinations of accessories that would satisfy a complete double din.

I found that I like the Pioneer avhP4200dvd but I'm not sure what else i need to put around it.
I have found that it is recommended to stay away from the metra kit though. Any opinions?

The JDM kit is very nice, $300+ nice.

For starters you will need:

Dash kit (Metra or JDM)
Wire harness to plug to factory harness (Metra or PAC i believe)
Radio of your choice
PAC module to keep your steering wheel controls if you like them
Video bypass module (not very smart and illegal in some states)

Or check here for the "shopping list".

What car do you have?

I have a 2004 g35 sedan. And I just feel like I need more out of the sound system. Thanks for the advice!

I felt the same way.

If you get in the mood to crank it up, it seems the bass falls out and the highs go to crap.

Yep, I got sick of trying to find "the right" list of what to get, that's why I put the list together based on everything I used in my installs.

I think my PM inbox has more activity than this forum at times, but I don't mind.

Yep, that's the Bose amplifier for you, that nasty EQ is all done in the Bose amp. Just replacing the amp will help a ton in sound quality, but you really should get rid of every other bit of the Bose setup.

That is exactly how i feel, i had a decent, not great, system in my old car and when i turn this one up i feel a little let down, but at other times i feel great about it, and i am really bothered by the lack of ipod connectivity.

I just want a decent double din and i think i will be satisfied.
are the buttons on the JDM worth the price over the rubbery ones on the metra?

The material on the JDM is better too, so really, it's more about if you want it to look stock or "good enough most people won't notice".

But yes, I definitely think it's worth the extra. Just reverse the cost. Say you had a sweet JDM install done and somebody said, "Hey, that looks nice, if I give you $150 will you let me make your interior look worse?"

And without a new amp, you'll still have the same distortion caused by the Bose amp as before.

I think i have decided on the Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD inside of the JDM set.
along with all the other little things i need.
And i can do it all for around $650
any critiques on that?

I know that, and i have decided that it will be worth the price, but the assembly i stated can be bough with everything costing between 650 and 700 dollars, and i was curious if that was a fair price.

I'd pay the extra $50 to get the bluetooth with the AVH-P3200BT, hands-free = safety!

$400 (backordered right now) for the AVH-P3200BT
$320-350 (eBay) for the JDM kit (or usually a lot less in the marketplace here)
And you'll need $40 for the PAC SWI-PS, $12 for the wiring harness, $10 for the antenna adapter, $10 for the dd trim ring. (amazon)

So... about $850 w/shipping.
