One channel cuts out on the cd player in my 04 G35 if i bump the console it comes back. How hard is it to dissassemble the console and lower dash to find a short

 

You might have a loose plug.

When it's just the CD player, percussive maintenance is about the only real solution short of replacing it. If it cut out with different sources, it could be something lose, but when a single source does it, it's something internal.

You can always just keep punching it while saving for a new, preferably aftermarket, headunit, use one of several ways to get an AUX input to listen to other portable music, or just stop using the CD player altogether.
