radio reception for you DD users

Seems my radio reception sucks. The mornings seem to be ok, but the afternoon the radio station wont come in for a bit.

Reception on the stock unit was great.

Is there some sort of antenna booster in the G35 Coupe that I need to hook back up?

Yep, when I got my Pioneer avh-p4200dvd installed, my radio technically sounded like ***** slapping the walls. My reception still sucks and I seem to only notice this problem when my car is in motion, I brought it back to the installers and they said everything is hooked up correctly, ground wire is checked. I just ignored it and now you just reminded me how bad it sounds. They sell antenna amplifiers but I don't know how that works.

Well I looked at the wiring diagrams and there is an antenna amplifier already in the car. Seems to be a G/W wire. I know the metra harness did not have a wire for this.

Looks like I might be pullin git out again this weekend.

Yes, the Metra harness does have a wire for it.

Some headunits, however, only have one antenna/remote amp wire, so you have to put it to both the Bose amp and antenna amp wires.

You are correct. I have both wires on the back of my Clarion, amp on and antenna on.

you have to wire the blue wire off the metra harness to a switched 12v (say your blue/white remote turn-on wire or red wire) to power the antenna booster in the car.

From my understanding and the blue wire is for the amp.

Both the amp turn on and antenna amp need to be hooked to a switched 12v source, doesn't really matter which, but the one from the radio is best, so that they'll turn off when the radio's off.

Of course, my radio is on 99% of the time the car is, so it doesn't really make a difference.

^^^ what he said. Both the amp and antenna(blue wire) needs 12v.

Gotcha...I must have read it wrong.

I have a amp turn on and antenna power wire (both blue) on the back of the DD. Will pull it back out to hook up. I didn't hook up the antenna power wire cause the metra harness didn't have a wire for it....Thanks Metra!
