Stock CD player giving me problems.
Stock CD player giving me problems.
When I play a CD the left channels both front and rear sound very low and distorted. But when I play the radio everything works fine. Anyone experienced anything like this?

Mine is doing the same thing. I've seen here that other people had the same problem.
I made an appointment with my dealert to take a look at that (and a creaking noise and change the oil).

Cool, good to know that I'm not the only one I guess. I'll have them look at it when I go for my 7500 mile maintenance.

Re: Stock CD player giving me problems.
its definatly a defect.... i dunno what it is... someone else i talked to about it said their face plate was the messed up part. My dealer just ordered me a new door speaker (the next day my rear left side went too).... im going tommorow to have them put in the new speaker.... even tho i think im prolly gonna end up having them do other stuff too since my sound has finally come back in the left side.... im gettting weird creeks too from between the door and the panel on the inside.... maybe its all related. When i hit my brakes hard before it would kick back in and if i hit the left side of my headunit. The other day i slammed on my brakes (locked in at 60mph) cause a yard work truck with a huge trailer full of lawn mowers and stuff changed lanes while i was beside the huge metal trailer.... since then my sound has been great.... obviously this is a problem with a run of headunits. Im guessing all of u guys have 2004.5's too (the guy with 7500 mile coming up). Mine has about 4500 miles and is doing this same thing. Im glad there was a post about this because tommorow if im at infiniti and say something and they say no one else has this problem i can show em this thread

Yeah, it's definitely intermittent. Mine started working again all of a sudden. I freakin hate that. It'll always work when you take it to the dealer.

Re: Stock CD player giving me problems.
Guys/Gals,
I experienced the same problem with my non-BOSE headunit today. The driver (left) side speaker output was very low compared to the passenger (right) side when listening to the CD. The radio output levels are fine.
I preformed the following to diagnose the problem:
1) Checked the balance setting.
2) Reversed the inputs to my amp and verified the problem is with the headunit.
3) Switched to another disc in the changer with no positive outcome.
4) Verified the radio output was okay.
5) Ejected all 6 discs from the changer and reinserted one disc.
The single disc I inserted played fine! Perhaps when I ejected all the discs the headunit reset itself. This leads me to conclusion that this is not a loose connection issue, but a problem inside the headunit.
I don’t want to do this on a regular basis, but I’m glad everything is working okay once again.
Let me know if this solution works for you.

Re: Stock CD player giving me problems.
Yes this problem has been brought up many times i believe that this should be a TSB or something make it a sticky how people can sort this out because i believe its the Headunit problem because it plays find with radio...and some people went and exchange their headunit fixed it for awhile then problem came back again...

Re: Stock CD player giving me problems.
ive had this problem for a while and for me, whenever you eject and insert a cd it plays fine- no need to eject them all. i think its a bad connection.. i wonder if anyone has a spare head unit to open and examine.. apparently getting a replacement wont solve the problem.
Re: Stock CD player giving me problems.
I'm currently having this exact same problem with my non-bose head unit.. AGAIN. This happened to me once about 6 months ago. The dealer replaced the head unit. Now it's doing the same thing again. The left speakers are low and extremely distorted. Am I going to have to take it to the dealer every 6 months for a replacement head unit?
The only solution I have heard of is a temporary one... Take it to the dealer and have them replace the head unit. But unless they update the head unit, it will happen again.
I had them replace my head unit, and it is fine for now.
