Every sub is different, so you won't find a custom-fitted ported or bandpass box for sale anywhere. You can find generic box+sub combos that are ported, but it won't be anywhere near as clean of an install.

You have to go to a shop and have them make it, or do it yourself.

Step 1) Pick sub
Step 2) Build box to car/specs
Step 3) Enjoy

I'm only going to explain this once.

The w6 is NOT an output oriented driver. It's made strictly for sq and blending in with a front stage. Do they sound clean? Yes. Infact, it's one of the better sq drivers i've ever heard..but they are not meant to get loud.

A sub sounding clean has more to do with the box it's in than the driver itself.

90% of the subs on the market can and will sound good if they're put into a properly designed and built box.

You seem to be on a budget, so it's beyond me why you're looking at subs that are 300+

 

i am on a budget?i figure about 1200 with new speakers just in the front plus the pioneer 4200 haha and dude its you who dont listen.....im wondering which will give more bump! i already know was enclosure im doing so just wanted to know the difference between the two or even the 12w6v2...nvm thanks for the help

 

i mean the 4200 seperate...so around 12 with the sub amp box and some front speakers

 

1200 is a small budget for a system considering the dd and the stuff you need for it will eat up 800-900 of that budget.

You said you wanted something that sounded good and got loud..the w6 only does one of those things.

 

Don't expect "loud" out of those small enclosures either.

If you do ported right (big box, tuned low) It will sound good.

you do need to choose where you want your sacrifices:
-small box
-high efficiency
-plays low

pick 2 of those things, cause you can't have all 3.

so...if you want to go low...you need displacement, Xmax, and a big box. the bigger box means you need less power, but you lose trunk space. you can use 1000w in a 1 cu ft box, but it won't play low. the list goes on...you have to compromise on one of those points.

 

Yup, 4200+JDM = $800-900, assuming you install it yourself. That'll let you get a 10w6 and... no amp or enclosure, or amp wiring kit.

So realistically, you've got about $300-400 to spend on a sub, amp, front speakers, enclosure and installation supplies.

You better use it to buy a crowbar and a ski mask if you expect to do all that with sound quality anywhere in your car for $400.

 

x2...double your budget and you're working with something.

I'd incorporate a processor into the setup if possible and go the pro audio route for your front stage.

Why? well power is cheap, but electrical upgrades aren't. Once you start to get up to 1000+ watts you'll need to start buying extra batteries and possible and h/o alternator.

A good battery is gonna be about 250-300. h/o alternator would be about 400-500. That's 800 already put aside for electrical. Not to mention 0 gauge with isn't cheap(2.50 a foot)

A 100w front stage with 95db+ drivers would get stupid loud and sound clean if you have the processing behind it.

 

no no 1200 for just the sub amp and speakers.....and a dd and 4200 isnt 800-900 more like 6-7 but with install will be about that.....i went in and got estimated 1300 for the sub,xd 600 amp, and jbl front speakers with components i believe but thats buying everything from that shop where im getting the 10w6v2 for 234 but i could use any help on deciding what amp because they suggest the jl 500 of course but im sure theres something else out there that isnt 300 that will be just as good if not though ill buy it

 

90% of shops will *** rape you when it comes to products.

They don't give a f what you truly want, they'll just throw their expensive stuff at you in hope that you buy it. JL for example.

purchase everything online and go to an independent installer.

 

with 1200 i'd get a ssa xcon and a sundown 1500.

But then, you'd have to put a lot of $$$ toward your electrical.
