Hey, been a while since I posted. I have a 07 Coupe, with factory Bluetooth.

People are constantly complaining to me that they can not understand me, or my voice is garbled. I was wondering if any one else is having the same problem, but more importantly what the solution is, IF ANY?

I recently took the microphone out, and replaced it with another one (some kind of conference two wire deallie). Anyway, still the same complaints, although most people say it is better... it still bites.


Any one have any ideas? I was considering putting a Parrot system in, but if I was going to do that then I would just as soon buy a whole double din setup.

Part of the problem is the placement. If you get an aftermarket mic that includes a little stand, you can get another inch or two away from the noise of the surface of the car, as well as be able to aim it at the driver. I've received no complaints on calls with the Garmin microphone that I picked up for $15 that I use with my Pioneer headunits.

 

do you think it may be the bluetooth unit itself is the 'badapple' and not the mic?

 

Nah, I'd say mic location and orientation.

 

So I should put the old mic back in? Or maybe put a new one over a few inches? It is driving me crazy!

 

Do you speak towards the bluetooth mic? I always try to speak towards the mic, it makes a huge difference according to the people I talk to on bluetooth. For some reason if I speak with my head facing completely forward people always say they can't hear me. If I speak towards the unit, tilting my head up a bit, people can hear me just fine.

 

I have tried speaking into the mic, yelling, you name it.

I am going to change out the mic again, I have several different kinds laying around (from whatever I butchered them from), I am determined.

If anyone has any thoughts, I would love to hear them.

I would rather not spend a bunch of money, UNLESS I buy the full double din setup, which would have BlueTooth built in. My car still has almost a year of warranty left, so I was thinking of waiting till that was not in affect any longer as well.

 

Where are you getting these microphones from? Just butchered ones from headsets made for indoor use aren't going to cut it.
