Did you only add a sub/amp? Or did you end up changing the front speakers as well? Is it worth it to change the front speakers? All speakers? I am not changing the headunit so should I just leave the stock speakers alone and add only the JL 10" w/amp?
And if you changed speakers, what do you recommend?

Re: To those who added subwoofers...
I just had my G35 Sedan upgraded by Sound Innovations.
They installed Focal 165K2 in the front doors, Focal 165 Coax in the back, Audison amp, and 12" JL sub.
I am using the stock CD changer with an Ipod adapter (using the Satellite input). It sounds much better then stock on CDs. The Radio reception is still terrible (as expected).
I would definitely get rid of the front speakers - they are absolutely awful.

Re: To those who added subwoofers...
I had the stock system, not the bose... but I definately changed out every speaker in there.
My sig says the speakers I got. Fronts are pretty damn nice.. Rears are just ok, but I wanted to make sure they were shallow enough to fit back there.
My fronts aren't the best, but I got them for a damn good price, and they're HUGE improvements over either the stock or bose, in my opinion at least.

Re: To those who added subwoofers...
Hey man. I went through the same situation as you. I thought that when I put my sub and amp in the back. (10" JL 10w3v2) that it'll sound great. However what I've been noticing is that the bass is awesome but the front speakers just aren't cutting it. I have friends that come in the car and want me to turn up the vocals but there's just not enough sound coming from the fronts (and this isn't because my bass is just too loud and drowning it out).
From advice on the forum, I was steered to Infinity Perfect's. Not the Kappa's but I got the little less expensive ones because I wanted to keep my stock Bose amp and not worry about that. I have yet to put them in however was told they will make a world of difference as far as sound goes with my setup. Also I was told to just unhook the rear speakers because they do more harm then good.

What does getting the Infinity Perfects instead of Kappa's have to do with the stock amp?
Anyone else change the speakers up front? And to what did you change them.

Re: To those who added subwoofers...
Because one requires more power than the other and the stock amp can only put out so much. Get either of those speakers it'll sound the same with the stock amp. To maximize on sound of the Kappa's, you'll need to get an aftermarket amp instead of the Bose I've heard.

Front speakers, definitely, without a doubt. You may decide to hold off on the rear ones until after the front ones are in and decide if you need to bother. I decided against it, it sounds great. In other words, use the savings from the rears for the fronts, because that's where you really want the quality.
Definitely replace the Bose amp with an aftermarket one. The stock bose amp just isn't quite powerful enough to keep up with a nice set of subs, not to mention you really need to prevent your highs from trying to reproduce sub frequencies. An aftermarket amp takes care of those problems.

Re: To those who added subwoofers...
personally I went with a JL 10 with a Sony Xplod 600 watt amp. Installer claims that the actual wattage of the Sony is down some what from what it is rated. I also went with MB quart reference tweets. The highs are spot on but I need a little more mid range - so this weekend I am going to install the MB quart 6.5 reference mids in the front doors. That's about if for me now - I think it will sound decent it as it hits like it should now - not earth shattering down the block sound - but decently balanced interior sound.
Funny thing is I had the same sub installed in two others vehicles most recently a 2001 RX-300 Lexus, and a 2000 GTI before that. The difference was with the aforementioned vehicles I had a Pioneer 150 watt amp running the sub and the sound was cool. With this car I couldn't even tell I had a sub, just note enough power. Increasing the wattage made all the difference in the world. If I were up to it I would change the head unit too, but I don't feel like going through all that. I am sure that it would make a world of difference sound wise. Although, I am pretty satisfied now - funny thing is the stock woofer went (well before I had my JL sub installed) and I am scheduled to have the dealer reinstall the replacement .

I changed everything out except the head unit. The front speakers are now MB Quart Q Series components. Sounds 10x better!
