volume changes, and no i dont mean SSV

Has anyone else had this problem?

This all started a year ago progressivly I believe.

I could run the car at 20 radio and 24 ipod

I put in 4 polk 650s, and that made it louder so I would then run

18 radio and 22 ipod.

After 6 months( or 6 months ago) the radio had to be played at 21 and ipod at 25 for same sound levels

Sometimes where it would be loud at 15 and 19, but very rarely, maybe once every three weeks it would be louder....

As time went on it was most on quiet side.

last week I put in some component polks in the front and man they sound good and increased the sound a lot.... so I went back to

I was runing 18 radio and 22 ipod.....

now it was going in and out for the last week
And now for the last three days it has been extremely low.

i currently have to listen to radio at 23/24 and the ipod at 30/31 to hear it on the freeway.

I do not have the speed sensitive volume on, it has been off. Also I am not the only one to notice this, my cousin, sister, and best friend even noticed that the volume isnt as loud and the bass is almost gone.....

I did listen to the sub in the rear, and it is working, but not much...

Is it a sign of a dying amp? or has anyone else had this problem with the sound system?

car Specs
2005 g35 sedan preimum,
Bose
Stock HU
Nav
Stock Bose sub and amp.
Car has every option but bluetooth and intelligent key.

I haven't seen anyone post these symptoms in the time I've been watching this forum.

Bose or non-bose, or aftermarket? External amp or headunit's internal one?

its all in the signal and signal quality

ipod music will all sound different depending on the source and what bit rate its ripped at

FM radio will vary by station and song

also your ears get used to volume levels over time

road noise plays a large issue in overall volume also, if the road is made of rough material; you will get a ton of road noise.

A good grounding kit (like the one I offer) can help stabilize the voltage and keep the level more consistent. It will also improve throttle response and a few other characteristics of driving. PM me if you are interested.

^ Good points here. Even normalized on the iPod, some songs can vary greatly in overall volume, same for different stations, but they're fairly consistent.

Also updated the first post

At first I thought it was the sub just going in and out, so that could be why the volume seemded lower missing all of the bass, but turns out it is still working, but barly.

The sub seems to be really selective on which frequencys it picks up now.

also also polks are pretty bassy speakers, but it seem like they arent pushing anything that much untill turned up really high.

I used them in my integra and maxima and they were louder. I used them in the maxima and g, so it waas the same pair, so I Ruled out that the speakers it self are going bad, then I put brand new ones as I stated in the first post so I dont think its the speakers it self.

I agree with you on the ipod and road conditions.

This was tested out just in my garage with the windows up.
So it cant be other factors.

I am a dj so I spend a lot of time with sound,
but I also confirmed with a few other people that been in my car not just me.

I went to tahoe last weekend in my friends maxima and we never put the volume on that past 17, it stayed constant. so after a 10 hr drive,( horrible weather) there and 5 hrs back I should have gotten used to that sound as well. The road noses were very minimal, not enough that we had to turn it up a extra 7-9 numbers.....

this really stumps me.

Ok so I had a chance to compare my audio to two different g35's.

Lcolin25's g35 coupe its a 07 bose.
His sounds was much louder, his 11 was about my 19. His car is 100% stock
My car was a lot more clear, crisp and hit lower, but def not as loud.

I also tested with a 03 sedan with bose stock.
Their 12 was the same as my 19, Same deals as Luis coupe.

So The only thing that I a wondering is maybe the connections that I have aren't conductive enough?

When I purchased the speakers a year ago, best buy Said they only had one adapter, in which it didn't fit. I had to Break the walls off it, so the two prongs can still stick in to our stock connector.

So I am wondering, can it be that I have the wrong connectors and it isnt conducting enough?

What did the rest of you use to connect after market speakers? Was there a certain part that you purchase or did you split the stock harness?

Also I do have mdf spacers in all 4 doors, and I gained a lot of mid bass back that I lost when I went after market.

Is it a known fact that aftermarket speakers will not be as loud with the stock bose hu?

Thanks. so far I narrowed it down o the connection, or thats just how it is running a stock bose unit with after market speakers( and no others amps etc.)
