I think I know the car that you are speaking of with the sloppy bass. I asked him a number of questions about his settings and installation, he did not have any answers. He did not know the following: what is the x-over set to, is the infersonic filter on, is the bass Q on, if so then what is the q set to, is the svc on the radio on, are the gains set properly, is the bass on the radio @ zero, is the woofer/amp in phase, what type of stepdown converter did you use, where did you tap into signal, is either voice coil blown, what is the net ohm load at the amp?????
If one of the following is not troubleshooted and properly fixed/tuned then the result could sound like shoes in a dryer, thump...clump.. thud. The W3 is my favorite sub in this box, nice smooth deep bass. IMO
