Re: Mini PS2 installed in Glove Box

Ah, from the earlier post I thought he meant to fit controller extension cables in there and then run them somewher where there was more room to plug in the reciever. I guess the reciever doesn't take up much more room then controller extension cables themselves.

Re: Mini PS2 installed in Glove Box

actually that might work... b/c the wireless controller reciever hangs down (designed for a regular PS2)... i need to work on a way to make the extension cable fit and then put the reciever in another part of the dash like you said

1) Chop chop, tap to the cigarette lighter~ This just might work. ; )

2) There are a couple of mod chips for the PS2 Slim (V.12) already.

3) Controller port and the memory card slot contributes a bulk chunk in the PS2 Slim. Remove the silver controller box and we might be able to solder an RF wireless adaptor to the motherboard. I think you might be able to mount an wireless receiver there.

4) Generator, are those PS2 splice cables ready yet? Looks like everything else has fallen into place.

PS2 Slim + Generator Lab chip = DVD, MP3, PS2 games in G35. woot! Total cost = $300. wow~

The first PS2 cable, called NavStation, is currently on its way to me now. I'm the guinea pig. I'll let Generator and you guys know how it'll go.

Re: Mini PS2 installed in Glove Box

I'm getting the PS2 cable from Generator this Wed and am in the process of gathering everything I need for the install. For power for the PS2, since it takes in 8.5V DC, I plan on getting a 12V-to-9V adapter. That way, I wouldn't have to find somewhere to stick that bulky laptop-like AC/DC adapter. Can anyone tell me where to tap in for power? I heard I might get noise tapping into the cigarette lighter. Is there anywhere else? If that's my only option, I saw a MonsterCable 12V to 9V adapter with "noise filtering" at Best Buy last weekend. Would that work just as well as having a radioshack adapter alone with an inline noise filter in series?
Thanks ahead

Re: Mini PS2 installed in Glove Box

I don't think you'll have a problem with noise tapping in at the cigarette lighter, particularly if your not using an inverter and going DC-DC. In my experience, monster cable, looks better, cost about 10x more, but performs no better then most of the generic stuff you get off the internet. I draw about 10 watts from the cigarette lighter for my VGA screen and it hasn't caused any noise issues.
