kill switch

I have not seen anyone do this on our car but Installing a kill switch somewhere around the driver seat area. Its a toggle switch you hide somewhere and if you flip it on the engine wont turn over..

jw if anyone has done one of these.. An Installer wants $70 to install one in my car and I rather do it myself.

I found this site http://www.killswitchcentral.com/ Where they sell kill switches with easy install instructions that supposedly take 10 min to install and

Just wondering opinions on this and if anyone has an actual experience with one.

Buy a $2 toggle switch.

Wire it to the power wire to the RFID sensor by the ignition switch, and put the switch somewhere under the dash.

I wanna find a better hiding spot than that.. thats the first place they look is under the dash or glove compartment for some kind of switch.. Idk where I would put it or how to wire it exactly.. Just tap into the ignition wires?

There's a power wire, a ground, and a signal wire for the RFID sensor, as for it being the first place they'd look... Have you looked under there? There's dozens of places under there you could easily hide it, besides, who do you think is stealing your car, Angelina Jolie? Nic Cage? More than likely, they're going to break a window or the driver's side keyhole area, steal your stuff, and leave. If they're trying to steal the car, they'll just put it in neutral, tow it on a flatbed, and leave.

Killswitches like that are best for keeping somebody who may have access to the key from being able to drive it away, like if your car is left in the garage during vacation and your keys are in the house. They'll try and start the car, but it'll just keep cranking.

if a thief wants our cars, he's gonna flatbed it. kill switches are pointless with the key imobilizer system. someone has to have a chipped key to start the car.

if you're parking on the streets, make sure you parallel park it so there is a car, or something, in front of and behind you.

I haven't heard of anyone's car actually being taken in a long time.

plenty of bash and grabs but no one actually taking the car.

if your car has nice wheels, they will only take the wheels.

Same with a nice headunit or whatever.

Stolen headlights at evening events such as football or baseball games used to be somewhat common here. The headlights are then sold on Ebay. Our alarms don't always pick this activity up.

I've also heard of this happening with our cars (this one's a GTR I think) and the wheels also appear on Ebay sometimes:

Wrathernaut hopefully you can create a DIY.
Couldn't find one on G35driver and I'm a little confused on what parts I need exactly and how to install one on the G!

I'm pretty sure if you put a switch to disconnect any of the four wires that go to the little key-detector antenna on top of the ignition switch it'll work as a killswitch, and since replacing the antenna doesn't require re-initialization of the system, it shouldn't cause the system to have issues when you flip the switch to back to RUN.
