AVIC-N1
I just purchased the AVIC-N1 and I had a few questions. I am still waiting on my double din conversion which will probably take 1 month to get. So in the meantime, what preparation can I do to make this install easy? Everyone that has one, what or where did you put the "hide-a-way unit" at? Trunk, under the seat? Do I need to purchase any additional wires. An audio store said that I could purchase a switch that would change the ohm's of our bose speakers to 4 ohm's so that it would work with our AVIC-N1. How do we hook up the speed sensor to the vehicle? I have so many questions I am almost afraid to tackle this on my own. Is there anyone that has a step by step of the AVIC-N1 install? Thanks
Re: AVIC-N1
honestly if you have never hooked up anything car audio wise dont try. it is harder with the nav and to set it up. Just pay a shop to do it it will only be about 150. You can also put the hide away under the center console.
Re: AVIC-N1
Several people (including myself) have installed the AVIC-N1. You need to get a Nissan wiring harness so you don't have to cut any wires. As for the speed sensor, do a search in this forum as it's been covered and I believe you'll find pics of exactly what wire to tap into. Get some wire taps from Radio Shack and you don't have to cut any wires. It's not a difficult install, just take your time. I installed the hideaway unit under the driver seat.

i installed the hideaway unit under the passenger seat instead of the driver.
i definitely agree that you should just get some wire taps from a place like Radio Shack so you don't have to go into the trouble of cutting wires.
this install was not the most difficult thing, but it wasn't easy either. it's just about following directions from the instructions and people who have had previous experience with the AVIC-N1.

Scosche NN03 if i recall correctly, also get the nissan antenna adapter (1996+ i think)
Also get wiretaps.
I mounted the hideaway under the driver's seat because i didnt want to run 10 wires into the trunk, i hid all of the excess wiring under the carpet under the seat, just had to make a small incision in the carpet.
There's a how-to on how to take apart your dash and install the dual-climate-control button. I used that DIY guide to help myself out. It wasnt too bad, Average difficulty, just dedicate an entire weekend to this project and you'll be fine!
