bad head unit or worse?

I'm already going to assume that the Bose head unit on my 03 coupe is going out. It started with the CD error. I switched to the cassette player with iphone. Now i constantly get the code tape error. Sometimes the cassette gets stuck, some times not. When the tape is actually playing it is constantly switching from side 1 to side 2. Then following a tape error. Sometimes only the right speakers work (stock subs still work) The other day There was a pop and the speakers stopped working with the tape player. I switched to the radio and the speakers were working normal.

I switched to the radio, now randomly the music will totally cut out and there will be no sound. I know its not radio silence, because I can switch stations with no sound.

Then the head unit sometimes goes blank where the radio station info should be.(see attached picture)

If i use the sterring wheel control to change the stations sometimes it controls the volume and not changing the station...

My 4th brake light (in the glass) works erotically and the trunk light has stopped working, and yes I have replaced the bulb

Here is a video of my car with the A/C goin on the fritz

So any ideas? ECU, short, or bad head unit?

The taillamp and AC display is weird, but everything else you describe is your Bose headunit failing. I am having the same issue currently but has been working OK for the past month. it also started with CD error.

they can repair and upgrade it or you can ebay.

Aftermarket is an option too.

If you decide to repair/replace the oem headunit, do yourself a favor and pick up a PAC audio adapter. It turns your SAT inputs into AUX inputs for direct Ipod connection.
