Red face time for a new sound

So I am in the market for a new set up in my G coupe.
I currently have entry level morel maximo 6.5s, an audison 3 ch.500w amp, a kicker l7 12" and I just purchased an ms8 for tuning & the center channel that I am planning to install. None of this is installed so I'm still on stock sound.
I have the jdm DD kit...but have not picked a h/u yet. I wanted the Kenwood 9980hd for its fast processor but man, it is an expensive piece! and since I chose the ms8, I'm wondering if I even need all of the bells and whistles the 9980 has to offer (mainly the 5.1 dds for the center channel).
I haven't chosen more amps either, although I want to go zapco.
I want to ask the audio guys if there's a big difference in getting say a pioneer 4300 dvd player or if I should stay w Kenwood?
Also, does my current equipment make sense to complete or what should I be looking at to make this center channel idea work? I also am planning on getting another component set for a rear filler & the center channel would either be the Kenwood 5.5" or the pioneer 3"...is there anything better without compromising the depth in the space above ac controls? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am very interested in learning on this journey as well & hope that I can at least start the install this week. Thanks in advance for your time & consideration...

The pioneer would work well. The kenwood is a hell of a unit, though. Morel maximo's are decent, but damn you could've done so much better with your money(if you paid retail for them). What model audison amp did u get? That l7 isn't gonna fit in the trunk. If you can, downsize to a 10 or 2 of 8's. The 12 want's about 3 cubes net which will be a tight fit in your trunk. What made u choose the l7's? They're decent subs, but it seems like you're going for 100% sq and there are better subs suited for that. Since you're doing the whole 5.1 thing with the ms8, use the same components for front and rear.

Well everything I got was for a decent price (morels for 140, audison srx3 ch. for 220 and the kicker was 100- all brand new) I couldn't pass on those deals as they approached me at different times. I even lucked up & purchased 2 kicker l7s at 200 for both so I was able to sell one and make money back. I already have a box built for the kicker so thats why Im going to stick it out with that choice of sub....at least for now.
As you've mentioned sticking with the same model components it makes me really think about upgrading the morels as I'm sure I could sell them for what I paid at least.

Just knowing the pioneer would be ok (at least for now) really helps me out because I would have to put everything on hold if I would have had to put that extra 1500 on the h/u...it is a super nice h/u though...
That price gap allows more money available for a cleaner amp! I was thinking of the zapco 650.6 as a shop owner has one for 450 & maybe sell the audison..does that sound unnecessary?

I wouldn't bother with getting some really high quality rear components. With Logic7 on with the MS-8, anything out of phase will be mixed to the rear channels, which isn't a lot of anything to the rear mostly. I've got some old school MB Quarts in the rear of mine I got off Ebay for $40 and for the most part don't know they are there. My rears are powered off the MS-8 internal amp which I would also suggest.

I can't comment on your headunit choice because I'm not a fan of screens in a car and all that useless **** in a deck. Just stick with what you have if your happy with it.

If you need more channels and your current amp doesn't fit within your future design then I would suggest you swap to something different. Audison makes great amps although I haven't heard the SRx series, only the newer LRx and older VRx lines. Possibly add another SRx amp?

What were your ideas for your center channel? You plan on stealing my design/idea?! The speaker will have to be bottom mounted to fit a 3.5 speaker. You might be able to squeeze a 4" co-axial in there but the Hybrid L3se worked great due to it being a full-range speaker and I got it dirt cheap!

Hey nar93da! sorry about the delay in my response I've been so busy between trying to piece 2gether this set up & school..but I'm not going for your design, I actually got the idea from a shop owner and then I purchased the Kenwood 700cs center channel as it fits almost perfectly in that pocket. but when I did a search on the forums I saw your thread & asked about your experience. I'm finally ready to do the install, but with my lack of experience & knowledge in this field I am going to need some help with this project.lol that or I can just pay the shop & get no knowledge out of the work that they'll do..I have everything but the speaker wires & amp kits...but since I have it all now, I want to hear it! your design is very nice! I wish I could've pulled something like that, but I already had the Kenwood @the time I saw yours.it was 60 bux tho!

Damn, I forgot about this thread! I removed everything from my G as I'm getting ready to sell it and move on to something else. I didn't think anyone would've been interested in the center channel so I tossed all my hard work in the trash, except the speaker of course! Oh well, I don't know if it would've been something you'd been interested in anyway?

I here to give you any help you need along the way. That's what were here for.
