Sound cutting out ! Help

I have a factory Bose HU in my 04' G35 Coupe. The sound is periodically cutting off and on for random periods of time as if it had a mind of it's own; does anyone know what this could be?

Power supply, circuit board or ribbon cable going out. Good excuse to do an aftermarket upgrade.

mines been doing this lately, too. but only when it's playing the radio, not the cd. i have the 04' bose system.
