Those of you with the AV Electronic unit...

I just got a 2005 with Navi. I have been debating whether to do the navbox or the Av unit. I think I have settled on the AV unit as it allows for the rear view camera and other video inputs.

1. Has anyone ever put a camera in the front of the car? My last sports car had a hell of a time with parking blocks. I think it would be a cool mod to have a front cam.

2. Anyone buy the license plate frame & camera for the rear? How does that look (looks wise).

3. Since I have to buy a stand alone dvd player, which brand, which has a TV tuner, will play my Dvd-r discs with video on them? I am also looking for a unit with DVD memory so it will remember where you left off.

4. Also, where is the best place to install the stand alone DVD unit? I want to avoid truck or out of reach areas. Pics would be great.

5. Is there anywhere to buy the AV unit other than the AV website? Anyone interested in a possible group buy (if one is possible)?

I thank anyone who takes the time to reply.

Jason

I ordered the AVElectronic Navigation Video Switcher. It is supposed to arrive today. With UPS shipping, it cost $595 (ouch). It has an S-video input and is supposed to connect to the Nav with the cutting of only one wire (we'll see). I'm going to connect an Innovatek DVD player/TV tuner to it. The Innovatek has an S-video output and a TV tuner, and I believe it also does the things you mentioned (memory and plays DVD-R's). I'm thinking of installing the DVD player/TV tuner in the glovebox, or underneath the glovebox. Haven't seen the AVElectronic unit available anywhere other than from their site. I have no plans to do a camera (it would be cool but I don't want to bother running wires that far and I don't know about the looks).

i'm just hoping and waiting for someone else to come out with another nav video switcher that can utilize both dvd and tv inputs. currently, i think only the avelectronics will do that but is over-priced. talk about highway robbery--$595!!!! the other adapters only allow dvd/xbox inputs: (

at the current rate, getting the video adaptor, dvd/tv player, audio inputs adapter and labor will run about $1000!!!! that is crazy in my opinion.

The AV unit is great. Well worth the money in my opinion.

The license plate cam is barely visible so it looks fine.

There are a couple of shops that sell the unit, one member here does. I can't remember his name at the moment.

nav xbox

the nav xbox from generatorlabs is a good cheap way to add video input, why dont you get that and put a video splitter in the middle? so you can have multiple inputs (camera, xbox, dvd player) and the navxbox mod is $150 plus video switcher is like $50? not even. You will also need the PacAudio adapter for the audio, but over all still would be cheaper then $595, in my opinion. That's what i plan on doing... correct me if im wrong about the video splitter.

Thanks

Hi Everyone
The G35 mod involves that you cut 4 wires and splice in. There is no plug and play for this car because it does not use standard nissian, infinity connectors.
The mod has 2 inputs 1 for DVD and 1 for backup camera. The unit auto switches to backup camera when you put the car in reverse. Yes the Mod works on the 05 G35 and 06 M35. The RGB mod is $200. If you want to check out our service and quality you can go to

one of the many forums we do group buys on. You will see that we have sold over 100 mods alone on this forum with 100% customer satisfaction.
