amp mounting location
Im finishing up my set up and after i finish my fiberglass enclosures i will be all done with the system except for where to put the amps.
This is an 04 coupe w/ bose.
I have two amps, each about 13x10x2 which i want mounted somehwere out of sight. and the subs will be in the corners of the trunk in front the of wheel "bump out". and the spare tire has to stay in btw.
what i was oringally gonna do, was screw two pieces of wood in each side into the metal frame, then screw the amps into them. however, the metal is either too thin and the screws pull out easy, or its too thick and i dont have the tools to get through.
my idea, was to throw down a piece of wood about 4'x2' ...ish. enough to go cover the width of the trunk. i would mount one amp on the left, and one on the right. then the spare wheel would go on top of the wood to hold it in place. i will attempt to cut it to size very tightly so it does not shift. also, i will probably throw a layer anti skid material underneith to keep it from shifting
keep in mind that i will be taking out both the black plastic frame peices that hold the bose amp on the left, and the jack and tools on the right (il throw them in a bag and secure them somewhere)
does anyone see any issues with this set up? Or have any better ideas?

Its pretty much impossible to mount the amps in the trunk and be out of sight due to the fact that during the summer time your trunk can get up to 155 decrease and most amps high temp cut off is at 158 decrease so the amps have to have good air circulation. What I did was I got two pieces of 1/4 partical board and trace the shape of my trunk mat on the boards and then I cut an extra 1/2 inch off of that and I left about a 2 inch gap between the two boards in the middle. I used the larges part of the boards towards the towards the front of the trunck so the second board was only about 12inches in width and mounted the amp on that board towards the back of the trunk on top of the trunk mat and used 3m glue and glued the trunk mat to the two boards. That way I could lift up on the trunk mat and still have access to the spart tire and the amps are in the back out of the way and wouldn't have to move when removing the spare tire.

I would put it there but I want to be able to slide my snowboard there.
And thanks wraith, I have been looking through there too but most are way above my ability and price range
