Well, let me make sure I understand the generations of the Hex line. It seems that the 1st generation (German Built) were very good speakers. The second generation had a let down in sound quality and had an aluminum cone. A thrid generation may have just come out that is similar to the first generation and are supposed to be a good setup. I read a review of these dated January 2011.

I suppose it is possible that the tweeter issue was related to the second generation.

Is this accurate?

Sounds about right... I have the original line and the 3rd generation.

I've got a 4x75w going to my pro60se's they sound fine, but I'm really close to bridging it to 150w each and cutting out the rear doors completely.

Ok,

It looks like I am going to make my purchase from Crutchfield and they have these deals currently:

- BA Pro60 SE for $399.99
- DA H600S or A for $499.99, Woofersets has these for $399.99
- Focal Polyglass 165VB for $299.99

They say that the Diamond Audios won't fit, but it seems like many people on here have them. Also I think I could probably find these cheaper, but I want to make sure I get the latest generation. I am leaning towards the Aluminum tweets since I want them to be bright, just not too bright.

My concern with the DA speakers is matching them up with something decent in the rear doors for passangers, I suppose I could go with any decent speaker back there and it would be fine.

Would I be better off with the BA's?

Finally I am looking for sub recommendations that would sound wood with 300W RMS. A single 10 or possibly a 12 are what I am thinking.

Thanks

Go with the silks they will be plenty bright, plus you can adjust the DB level in the crossover if you want more tweet.

I got mine for $350 on ebay. The old versions had a slightly different part number and looked completely different.

I vote to leave the rear speakers stock and power them with the HU; bridge the amp to power the fronts. Spend that money on a new HU or some sound dampening.

Boston pro60 from that list.

I'd also toss in the image dynamics cxs 2 ohm and the xs65

Sub wise, go with an image dynamics idq
