Remote Start Compatibility w/ Intelligent Key

Hey there, I just bought an 06 G35x this week and i'm thinking about getting a remote starter installed (probably at a place like Best Buy). Has anyone done this, and how does it work with the iKey?

FYI, i'm not really looking for anything super fancy; just want to be able to warm up the car during snowy winters. And I only have one set of keys now so I need to decide the best way to proceed.

Thanks!

They make data modules that take care of the key situation, you shouldn't need any extra keys to make it work. Make sure you do some research because different modules work in different ways. I believe there is a company that offers a module that makes you actually turn the car back off before you can drive off with it - I would stay away from anything like that and make sure you get a module that allows you to do the take over without shutting the car off.

Best buy most likely wont be able to do this install. It requires a Rfloop and some fancy wiring. Our guy at the shop can do them and im,slowly learning how

Not only will they be able to do it, they'll do it with a data module that doesn't require an "rfloop and some fancy wiring".

That vehicle will need an Flcan from flash logic. Some of the newer cars with intellikeys need to be shut down and then restarted again because there is no smooth transfer from the module that has learned the intellikey code to the actual key fob as the car is looking for it at all times. Most regular key systems only need to see the key code for the start duration and then are not needed once the vehicle is running. Some vehicles that see two keys, the module and the real key at the same time will get confused or think you are trying to steal the code and boot the keys out of memory (Mercedes ML, costly mistake to me).
