Help me pick an AMP for my Polk Speakers

So I have the following as my speakers:

Fronts: Polk MM6501 100watts RMS /200watts Peak
Amazon Amazon

Rears: Polk MM651 100watts RMS /200watts Peak
Amazon Amazon

I've been looking for an amp to power these speakers since they sound pretty bad through my stock headunit and came down to these 2 options:

1. Pioneer GM-6400F / Pioneer GM-6500F (The 6500F should just be a newer version even tho theres a huge price difference)
Amazon Amazon

Amazon Amazon

2. Pioneer GM-D9500F
Amazon Amazon

What do you guys think?

Do you think the 9500 is that much more worth it, basically 2X the price of the 6500F...

Thanks!

None of the above.

Soundstream Soundstream
's a great way to go right now for power and sound quality.

Hmmm, I'd rather stick to known brands but thanks for the advice...

I did read in a lot of reviews that the pioneer D9500f amp is very small and stays cool to the touch since it has a built-in cooling fan...I really like those 2 things...

Any comparable brand name amp? Small & stays cool?

Soundstream is very well known to anybody who does car audio. Buying Pioneer because you've heard of it is like buying McDonalds for a good burger because you've heard of them.

Not just because I've "heard of them", I've also read a lot of good reviews from various sites and it is much safer to buy something with a brand name and to know I can contact them if anything were to happen versus buying an amp from a small brand/company and hoping they dont bust...

Well, they've only been making amps for over 20 years now, so yeah, they might not be around tomorrow...

You like name brand over performance so i would never recommend to you

Mcintosh, PPI, Soundstream, Zapco, Old Skool phoneix gold, XTANT, A/D/S, ARC

I would recommend

JL audio, Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, Pioneer, Sony....fill in any best buy brand

Soundstream is really good. Theres a couple more brands that no one talks about thats way better then the "mainstream" audio stuff.

And you should check http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ and http://www.audiosavings.com/index.aspx. They got some nice stuff for the low.

In general, the brands that sell a 400w RMS amp as a 400w amp are the ones you need to go for, not the ones that sell a 200w RMS amp as a 1000w amp.

And eggyhustles knows his car audio like I know double-din installs in the G35. Sundown is great too.

Thanks for the advice guys

I also had the same thought process as you guys before regarding other things, as far as buying better performance vs brand name, but I've given up on that, since brand really does matter more, since you get more support, better customer service etc...

Quick example, I got the iphone even tho there were much better performing phones at the time, same thing when I got the ipad, performance doesnt always equate to better overall experience and satisfaction...just some examples..

But thanks again for the advice, ill def look into those!
