Best Ground for CarPC (Screen + Amp)

Hi, I just installed a CarPC (I'll post details later). I grounded it to the chassis because it was there and was quick and easy. But as I sort of expected, I'm getting feedback in the audio and video signal. Where is the best place to connect the video and amp ground?

Thanks!

Since you're so close to the battery anyway, I'd just run a dedicated wire straight there.

Yeah, probably worth it.

Okay, I ran a ground to the battery and the audio/video feedback still exists. Could it have something to do with the way the actual PC is grounded? It is in the trunk and a short 8awg ground wire runs to a bolt near the rear lights.

Could be a problem with noise from the alternator or another source. Do you get the noise when the vehicle is in the ON position (not ACC) and the car is not running?

I moved the video/audio cables so they are not as close to the power lead. I am getting a "white noise" fairly faint but definitely there when in the ACC positions. In the ON position I get a hissing sound which is not steady but is always there.

Shouldn't I be running the amp ground wire from the harness to a ground in another harness? This is how the factory head unit would have done it, right? If so, which ground should I use?

Update: Audio seems okay now after I moved the wires far away from the power. Video is horrible. Investigating.

Usually you run the RCA/signal cables on one side of the car and power cables on the other side so you might want to make sure all your cables are like that.

Whoops I forgot to update this thread. Yeah, that fixed the audio and helped with the video but I ended up having to switch out the video cable. Now the signal is good. Thanks.
