Not trying to thread jack but I have a speaker and amp question as well. I was talking to a friend who's big into car audio yesterday and mentioned I was looking at the pro60s. He highly recommended the RE Audio XXX 6.5" components over the pro60s and also mentioned they would pair up really well with a Hifonics Brutus Elite 800W 4 channel amp (BRE100.4 I believe) to power the speakers. His point was that these 2 items are vastly underrated in the audio world and are great values for the money.

His only concern for my car was that the 6.5's are extremely deep and didn't know if I have enough room in the doors to fit them.

Thoughts? Hopefully this will help OP as well as me.

the RE XXX are very very nice speakers. Their parameters are sexy. They will destroy those pro60s.

I considered the RE XXX's but they are def too deep.

I ended up getting the Diamond Audio Hex H600S's and I'm happy with them.

Destroy them in what? Frequency response? Eh

I've had them. Midbass is phenomenal, but exaggerated. midrange is decent, but the highs are shrill and ear piercing.

Decent set...def wouldn't take them over the bostons, though.

Those do look nice as well. Did you mount the tweeters in the stock location? They look too big to fit, but I haven't taken off the cover to really see how much room there is in there.

You get what you pay for with amps. I'm running JL300/4 for my fronts (bridged).

I modified the stock housing and they fit in no problem. Can't even tell. I have a build thread here.

Thanks for the link. How much was your amp if you don't mind sharing?

I traded an old alpine headunit for it on craigslist, it was broken and i paid $120 to JL to have it repaired to like new condition.

But you can get it new on ebay for 330 shipped.

Sweet thanks. Not a fan of Hifonics? My buddy swears by it.

BTW your build thread was cool, did you end up moving the antennas under the dash? I assume you didn't have luck with splicing the factory XM antenna with the aftermarket antenna plug or did you not try it?

No personal experience with them. Just do research before you pull the trigger. The amp is very important, don't skimp there.

I agree!

But for what its worth, I bought my JL 500/1 in 2002. It's still kicking after years of abuse and the HOT GA weather.
