Messed up installing oem bose unit , help needed

Just replaced my oem unit since my original unit wasn't reading CDs. as I was installing, I accidentally ripped the white electical ribbon that connect the unit to the faceplate in the bottom corner, not allowing me to turn on the radio or any AC controls. Wondering what my options are, only part that's ripped is the tip of the ribbon that connects to the harness, need to fix it ASAP. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Can you take a pic to see which ribbon is ripped? You might be able to cut off the non ripped part and plug it in. That's how you fix the left channel going out problem for our cars.

There is a little bit of extra length in that cable, the tricky part is shaving the plastic coating off the copper ribbon wires. I was able to do it with a razor blade after taping the ribbon cable to a very slightly curved surface.

ok. so got it fixed. one of my friends were able to cut downt the top portion of the ribbon and everything is dandy, i can control my AC and radio, but only thing now is that the LCD on the faceplate that tells you what radio station your listening to or whatever isnt lighting up..

weird thing is all the lights on my faceplate are on, except for the LCD display. also, the LEDs are dimmed, when trying to make them brighter, only my lights in the gauges responds or dims. and my trunk release button next to the steering wheel stopped working

idk what the hell is going on.

Hey Chris glad you got it working. Check the status of the trunk popper button in the glove box.
My trunk button wasn't working for the longest time then I saw the button when in the glovebox one day and gave it a try.

As for the dimming that could be explained by the ribbon. Should start looking into the jdm dd kit

Did you clean the tip of the ribbon when you cut it? Maybe one of the leads isn't making good contact, thus only affecting the screen.
