Had my whole headunit replaced by the dealer now the sound is off, is this possible?
Hey guys,
I posted in the general forum but didn't get much help so i thought id try here. My nav button was sticking so i took it in and they ended up replacing the whole headunit and nav unit.
The thing is..now the sound is all messed up. The bass sounds really muffled and muddy and the treble sounds very high. I thought it might just be in my head but there are a few songs i know for a fact didn't sound as "light" as they do now. Is it possible a tech might have forgotten to plug something in? Or is it possible infiniti changed the sound levels on the replacement headunits? Im taking my car in on saturday but i want to know if any of these things are possible since im expecting them to say everything is fine.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I really, really hope all that stuff was replaced under warranty.
Regardless, I'd take it back to the dealer and make them fix it.
I'm wondering if it's possible they put a non-bose headunit in there. That would cause the bose amp to go all crazy, since it would be receiving an amplified, non-differential balanced signal. If you look at the back of the unit, the non-bose units have cooling fins:
Bose on top, non-bose on the bottom.

Did you mess with the equalizer at all? Whenever I used to unplug my battery for one reason or another when I replugged it in for a second I was always thinking "Man, this radio station sounds like garbage" and then I would remember to adjust my levels back to where I like them. Just the easiest thing I could think of to eliminate as a possibility.

Yeah i made sure i set all the equalizer settings back to what i usually have them at; Bass at +4 and Treble at +4. Im honestly beginning to suspect they put a non-bose sound system in there since ive been in cars with the non-Bose system and it sounded almost identical. But the thing that confuses me is that on the front of the headunit it still says Bose, Is that just a piece that has nothing to do with the actual headunit?

And yes it was done under warranty. I just made an appointment to bring it in on monday to have it taken care of. I just didn't want to be that whiny customer that is making something out of nothing but i have a strong suspicion they might have put in a wrong headunit.
