ribbon cable purpose
On my 2005 stock bose HU, there is a ribbon cable on the bottom of the radio, had a flat black connector. Goes from internal of the radio covered up with tape to the PCB board in front.
What does that do, ive damaged it, ribbon broke on the radio side, not the part that connects to the faceplate.
But i cant find anything wrong, IE everything seems to work and light up just fine. radio works, lights work, screen works. So whats broken?

hm.. i dont use the CD player at all tho.
just radio and OEM ipod hook up.
Once i saw the cable seperated from the connector, i was for sure i had a dead radio. Ready to look for a JDM DD. But i plugged it in, CD player did its thing,( made sounds like you were to install a CD in). Nothing worked for a 5 minutes and once the CD player stopped making noise. Radio worked, AC controls worked. Navi worked (its a different system but still)
I'll try the cd player later today.
I straighten out the ribbon cable, it was bent and then i shoved it back into the connector and plugged the connector back into the faceplate side of it.
