With our 07 almost 4 years old there's plenty of stuff it's missing. Is it a dealer disk or???

I believe so. It cost a lot to update. I figure it's not worth the money though.

Trying to figure out the options. I hate having that big screen there if it's so out of date. And the silly safety feature where you can't work it when rolling, even with a passenger.

Yeah i really hate that safety feature as well. My passenger wants to put in the new address while driving and they can't. It would make since if there is a 90lb+ person in the passenger seat it should free up the GPS. Makes since but people really don't think outside the box sometimes. Now everything just has to be illegal to make us happy.

as for the not being able to enter anything while rolling, you can put a toggle switch on the speed sense wire at the back of the radio/nav unit and disconnect the signal and enter your stuff in. Then to maintain accuracy with the route all you have to do is toggle it back when you are done.

I did read that somewhere. I'm just a bit nervous about hacking up wiring.

wow didn't know this place was getting that over protective. What happened to the DIY of the enthusiasts and the uncensored american internet? Besides its not like I told him what wire to modify. He can research that by looking through a service manual on his own. Its a common known piece of information on all navigation units on all cars. Oh and how come I see everyone on here recommending the KP technology parts that do exactly that, just with more effort and a nicer product and final outcome?!

On a side note, why does every DIY mod thread seem to almost require a "DO THIS AS YOUR OWN RISK. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS OR MISTAKES" in it? Is anyone really afraid that they could be held liable for damage someone else does to their stuff? What court would rule like that? sorry I don't know why I had to add that into the rant. I guess I was just thinking that this site might be concerned about getting sued for someone learning something potentially hazardous on the internet. HA!

I know i seen it on the G37 they were talking about doing illegal things and a moderator came on and gave everyone a warning that if they saw it again your banned automatically. G35 driver i know they can get very annal.

N/e ways back on topic. IF your going to update your GPS you might as well do it every year. It's always going to be outdated. And updating it through the dealers or how every can do it just seems like a waist of money. Wish we can just update it like the Thomas guide. Just hook it up to a computer.
