i have a question.
I did my whole system for about $2040, and it sounds teriffic. I bought all the components on eBay (new). It's all top quality gear, but I did retain the stock head unit. Here's the breakdown:
MB Quart QM 218.61 front doors $330
MB Quart PCE 216 rear doors $350
JL 300/4 + JL 300/2 $720
JL 8W7 in JL wedge enclosure $290
One carton of Dynamat Extreme $120
The only things not from eBay:
Rockford Fosgate dual amp Wiring kit $80
Various speaker wire/ RCA cables $150
If you're anywhere near the New York area and what to come and listen, just send a PM. This system is super clean and can play much louder than I would ever want. Good tight bass, but not enough to shake the neighborhood. If you want a double din conversion, you will need to either spend considerably more, or get lesser quality gear.
Also, notice there is no install labor cost here. You would need to add quite a bit for a pro to install this gear....I got quotes as high as $1,500 just for the install; so I did it myself. Which is what I recommend you do if you are on a tight budget. There are plenty of tutorials here on this site.
You should also note that JL does not authorize internet sales at all, so I had no warrantee on the amps. But this is a much lower price than you would pay from a proper JL dealer. I might have been able to return a non functional amp immedialtly, but who knows. I chose to take this chance. MB has a similar policy.
