I did a lot of searching but still unclear. I do have a IPhone 3GS but I don't want to control it via the HU or steering wheel ,only want an aux input for it and maybe charging capability .

What is the cheapest module that will give me aux input and best place to buy it from? I do have the Sat button but no sat cable in the trunk.

A step up from that a wired FM modulator (PAC IS77 is a popular choice), beyond that, I wouldn't waste money on keeping the factory radio going.

 

Thanks, I've been using a tape adapter and was looking at using a direct coupled fm transmitter as an alternative to one of those sat interface modules but didn't find one as good/cheap as the one you posted so I ordered it last night. Thanks again!

I got the fm modulator and just pulled my dash apart to realize the radio does not use the standard antenna connector. Where is everyone wiring this thing in? Do I have to buy two separate adapters to go into the PAC I77 and then back into the radio?

 

thats exactly correct, you need both the male and female aftermarket antenna adapters, unless you're handy with a soldering iron and don't mind cutting your fac antenna.


you can wire it to the cig adapter (easiest) that comes on and off with ignition... but I'd leave the switch in line, because when its on (regardless of use) it will kill the rest of your radio stations.

 

After I posted that I did a search a someone had a link to the adapters for $12 for the pair . I thought about soldering it in I have a very good soldering iron, I solder alot for at work but since it looked like it has two antennas and I wasn't sure if one was a primary that I should use.

I got everything else wired in and just having, it "close coupled"' it seemed to work better than the tape adapter, looking forward to hearing it direct coupled.

 

If you solder it a lot for work it would be a breeze for you. Just cut the end off, and solder the centers together, and the shields (outer) together. I've done this a dozen or so times and it works just as well as an adapter. Just be sure to leave some slack on both ends for when you want to return it to factory.

 

I'm using the USA SPEC adapter. Using steering wheel controls for iPod, also has separate aux input.
