AVIC-N1 in cubby

My buddy sold his truck and I can get his AVIC-N1 cheap if I want it.

I seem to remember a post from last summer about someone who installed the AVIC-N1 in the cubby where the factory nav goes and kept the Blose intact. I can't find the thread now. Is this possible, or am I not remembering right?

Thanks, I would like mine to look like Saridi's. I didn't know the venting had to be cut though, that's no good.

I couldn't get to the older links though. I guess they haven't been brought to the new server.

I got a line on a factory nav from the junkyard, but I don't want tot give up my cubby and the upper glovebox. Does it take the lower glovebox also? Anyway, I don't want to go that route.

I'm not in a hurry. I'm leaning to keeping the Blose HU, but it's starting to look more and more like it's gotta go. I can do all the work myself, just gotta figure out which way to go.

The stock NAV just uses the cubby and upper glovebox. If you do go stock though, you'll also need the massive wiring harness for it to tie it into all the other systems which is a $1000 cable from the dealer and looks to require a whole lotta install time. Theres another post on here of someone else who did it. Just keep in mind though if you do go this route, you won't be covered by any warranty with it.

You're in luck...I installed the Avic 80 in my G coupe, as you know the Avic 80 has the separate brain so I purchased a pioneer touch screen monitor and installed it in my cubby hole,,,came out pretty cool
