Amplifier Going To Protect Mode

Need your help audiophiles out there.

I followed this DIY on adding an amplifier to my stock bose.

Did it exactly as instructed:

https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...g35-coupe.html

I am running an HiFonics TXi 6406 Multi-Channel Amplifier

Technical Details
Product Features

4/3/2 Channel TXi Series Amplifier
Class A/B Amplifier
85W RMS x 4 chan. @ 4 Ohms
170W RMS x 4 chan. @ 2 Ohms
340W RMS x 2 chan. @ 4 Ohms Bridged

Subwoofers would be 2 10" Kicker Comp 10

The Amplifier turns on properly when I turn on the radio

The problem is it goes to protect mode when I plug in the RCA that I tapped to the wires before the Bose Amp.

If I remove it and turn off the car, the amplifier resets.

Now turn it on again and once you plug in the RCA it goes to protect mode again...

No fuse blown or anything like that.

Pls. help

You may have a bad set of RCAs.

I dont think it is because of a bad set of RCA's

If it is then i should also have a problem and it should be affecting the stock system.

If the RCA's are grounded then I would think that sound going to the rear speakers will be affected, but it is not...

Anyone else ??

HELP !!!

Get a 3.5mm to RCA y-cable and plug into a different audio device (iPod, whatever). If it goes into protect mode there, then your problem is probably this:

340W RMS x 2 chan. @ 4 Ohms Bridged

Those Kicker Comp 10's come in 2, 4 and 8 ohm versions. If they're 2 ohm, then it's instantly going to protect itself from frying when you apply the signal.

I think my subwoofers are 4ohms ill double check.

stupid of me not to think of the load. I will remove the speaker wires first and see it it goes to protect mode when I plug in the rca's.

If it still does I will borrow a different amp and plug my rca. Now if still does then ill double check the rca's itself.

I was up till 2am wiring everything..lol so my analytical thinking is down...

I will advise what happens

been so busy and tried to fix this.

I followed your suggestion of use 3.5mm to RCA y-cable and I used an ipod. It worked and my amp did not go to protect mode.

I cannot get any other info about my amp if it accepts high signal input ( factory radio gives high signal right ? )

Do I need to get an LOC ?

Anyone ?

Connections dine pre bose amp.

Rcas connected to aftermarket amp hifonics txi 6406

Amp turns on to protect mode once you plug in the rca.

I used a 3.5mm male to rca and plugged to my ipod then to the amp and it did not turn on protect mode.

What do I need to do ? Line output converter ?

What signal does our stock hu produce high or low ? Does it matter ?

I am searching and reading old posts but still confused..

Pls. Help

Did you cut the RCA cables and then splice them to the wires? Double check your splice to make sure positive to positive n negative to negative. I used the same DYI instructions as you did, only I used a LOC.

I spliced mine from the speaker wires to the rear speakers.

I don't remember what brand the LOC was but I got if from Best Buys.

Connection is simple: 4 wires (left and right speakers) in and 2 RCA out.

Try connecting the RCA one at at time to your amp to see if both sides trip the amp. If both sides trip the amp then you probably crossed the wires or the level coming from the HU is high.

I did try one RCA at a time and it trips the amp. I will check again and see the colors of the wires which I tapped in before the AMP is correct.

If all is correct and the level coming from the HU is high, what would fix this ?

If the wiring is correct and considering that your amp is good, the LOC should fix the problem.

BTW, are the speakers connected to the amp? Try disconnecting all the speaker wires.
