We need that ipod mounting solution fellas..

I'm going to be doing my Double Din Swap once the CDA-9855 is released, and I'm going to be buying the alpine ipod module for it.. so I need a place to stick my ipod. Its a great solution as it even charges it.

tgenius, i think all the best locations have allready been utilized.
-cup holder/console (right behind shift)........ken @ g35ipod
-nav cubby (if available)...mine
-universal mounts. but you need to drill holes & wired will be exposed.
-ashtray....discussed alot but not yet acheived.
i'm not sure there are many more options that will 'hide' the install and yet make it pratical.

The only thing I'm noting is the Alpine solution uses a cable, not the dock to connect up. Does the dock have a connection for the ipod cable?

Yes, the docs have both an audio output jack (1/8") and a "Dock Connector" type port (which has power and data, but does it also do audio output???).

How about a simple velcro to somewhere on the dash and people just use the new IPOD Shuffle with the 1/8" jack?

the ipod shuffle only is going to be a max of 1 GB. I have my Mp3 changer with 6 cds worth of music, it's roughly the equivalent of an Ipod Mini, but obviously spread out. my 4th gen ipod has a 20GB drive, and I could actually fill it to capacity if I wanted to.

I know the Shuffle has a small memory but would be maybe easier to mount somehwere compared to the Mini or 20Gb unit.

I just burn my mp3s on 1 disc (about 220 songs) and play it for about 1 month, get tired of it and then burn another playlist on another CD. I thought the Shuffle might be an easier unit to hide and stick to the dash...

Hehe... I saw the post above and chuckled as I thought about my nearly 30 gigs on my 40gigs Photo iPod. Copied them all in one go, on the first night of iPod ownership.

I love my iPod.

I just am hesitant to do the ipod solution for the simple reason that I need the ipod module AND that multichanger module, so your talkin $250 extra. Considering I'm ponying up for the 9855, I don't want to spend any extra than I have to. I am considering adding XM though.
