Im in the market for a used G coupe and there are some decent deals but they have navigation installed

I run car computer setups and have no need for stock navigation

Can the stock navigation be removed successfully?

Would there be people interested in trading a nav dash for a non nav dash plus cash?



I wish I could just find a good deal on a coupe with no nav but there is NOTHING in so cal

 

I think you would have to remove more than just the screen/dash assy for someone to spring on this one. The wiring harness is good as gold to most people. It's interesting that you dont want it in the car in the first place, since if you look through the forums, most buyers of the car who didnt purchase it, would like to add it in after the fact...

If you have a car-puter system you want to install, why not opt for a aux video input system which will allow the connection of your video card via SVideo connection or RGB somehow? Seems doable to me... AV Electronic has a Svideo input right now. That way, you can spring for the car you want, plus you will have your car-puter displayed on the stock navi screen... It would look clean too.

Not only that, the Navi is always a good selling point if it ever came down to you selling the car sometime... More resale value I would think...

A carputers definitly the way to go and your right, you don't want to use the stock nav to do it, but I wouldn't recommend trying to swap it out either. ALthough doable, as demostrated by someone else on this board, it looks like its a real beast of an install, especially if you do it twice for the swap.
