Anyone Mod Their Navi?
#4
There is a way to interupt the wire that tells the Navi system how fast you are going. With the wire disconnected you can play with the Navi all you want while moving, however, since our Navi is based on more then just a GPS signal your Navi won't work without the wire connected. So, most people put a switch in line that has to be break the wire while they want to play with it then reconnect the wire once they are done. The system will quickly 'find' itself as soon as it has a speed again.
Keep in mind I don't have this mod on my Navi (I only have the 'OK' button bypass on mine) so this is just what I have read about it.

I made a circuit with a small programmable microcontroller that outputs a (-) signal approximately 10 seconds after the car is started. I had to take apart the entire NAV system and solder the (-) output from my module directly to the 'OK' button input on the circuit board. KPtechnologies considered marketing them but the installation is just too difficult to encourage! So, I take pride in being the only person in the world with this mod on a G35 (I know of Muranos and Maxima owners who have done this, and I sent a module to a Z owner but never heard back from him as to if it worked or not).

it is easy. Just breakdown the dash. Cut the the green and white wire coming into the dvd device. Connect a 2 ft 22 gage wire to both ends. Cut the wires going into the valet parking switch. Connect those 2 wires together. Attach the new wires to the stubs coming from the switch and put the dash together. Tada. It took me a couple hours only because i tied the two trunk wires to the new wires and when i went for a test drive, the trunk was releasing like a machine gun.
