Dynamat

Has anyone used this on in their car? Do you think it would help with all the rattling the G produces? It was just an idea I had but I'm not sure if it'll work.

I had my whole trunk dynamated in my 2003 G and there was no rattles what so ever. It's a good investment in my opinion but very costly. I had to let that investment go when I got rid of my 03 for the 05. Lots of people asked similar questions. Might want to check it out.

I'm gonna be doing my whole trunk and door panels before dropping my system. I got a good deal on Ebay. I bought the Dynamat Extreme Trunk kit for about $70 and the Dynamat Bulk pack(10455) for about $100. Only thing that will suck about it is the DIY, its gonna be a lot of work. Also do a search, i've seen a couple of threads about dynamat. Good luck.

Yup, Fxg35rida Is Right---its Lots Of Work!!! I Just Finished ...took Me A Whole Day~8 Hours...but I Did My Trunk Twice And My Rear Deck Twice--als My Doors And Door Panels! I Used Two Bulk Packs Of Dynamat Extreme---well Worth It Though-its Virtually Rattle Free.i Was Surprised How Well It Worked - Especeialy With My 2 Jl 10w6v2's In A Ported Box Being Pushed By The Almight Jl 1000/1...spend The Extra Time On The Dynamat Or Dont Go Big Cuz It Would Be Awaste If People Can Hear You Rattle On The Outside- Its Tacky!

Its not hard to do just time consuming. Have to remove all the panels, carpet, etc. Then you may want to prep the surface a bit the sound deadening will adhere properly. You want to have some type of roller to help you get the stuff onto all the grooves.

Trunk Kits Are Too Expensive...even On Ebay! Go For The Bulk Pack. Cover Your Dors-they Are Very Prone To Ratling.also Do The Trunk Lid Twice..provides Something Like Three Times The Protection When You Double It Up. Its True Its Hella Time Consuming--but If You Have To Have Your Door Panels Off Anyway, Half The Work Is Done! I Used Two Bulk Packs On My Sedan And I Am Completely Satisfied. My Old Beamer Couldnt Match The Tightness Of My G's Cabin After Dynamat. I Have Extra Package Of Tsunami Sound Deadening Material(20sq. Ft) From Circuit City. It Retailed Over 120 A Month Ago.but Its Just Sitting In My Garage Not Being Used.also I Have A Few Extra Large Sheets Of Dynamat Extreme I Didnt Use. Im Not Sure But If Anybody Is Interested Ill Measure/count The Sheets. I Baught It All Brand New---original Packaging. Let Me Know Before I List It On Ebay--

Okay, from 1-10, 10 being hardest, how would you rate this for someone who doesn't know much about this stuff to actually do it.

It does not help with rattling, but it helps to omprove the sound of your bose system. Music will sound more solid.

Like one of the poster said, it not hard!!! just couple of screw to remove the door panel. The biggest issue i had was the first door, it took well over 2 hours to do it. but the second door took me less than 1 hour. I also did the read side panel. One thing i overlook was the trunk. I did the trunk lid, which was very easy but not the spare tire area.

Once finished, if you just knock on the door from the outside, you can feel how solid the it feel. When you shut the door, it feel very solid.

I feel that this job can be done by anyone. It's just require at lot of patient. If you plan to bring to car audio place, they charge you an arm and leg for it. Plus most of them(99 percent) just do it around the front door speaker. Just get the bulk pack, 2 for both door and rear side panel. If you wan to do the rear, then 3 bulk pack. Those 3 bulk pack will cost you about 350-400. it's probally take the whole 8 hours for most people. If you were to go out and let audio shop do, cost u maybe 400 or more. But let me stress to you again, most of them are lazy and they won't do a job. Dynamat is something i would recommend everyone to do it themselve.

Last advice, get some glove. Man i got so many metal cut on my hand because i was careless. Well i deserve that one.
